About The Backyardigans
The Backyardigans television show follows the adventures of five friends (modeled after animals) as their imagination takes them to new and exiting places.
As most children do, the Backyardigans, play everyday in their backyard when an idea sparks a new story line carrying the children off into a new world where the only limit is their imagination.
The show is one of the rare Nickelodeon programs for young children that uses bad guys or "evil characters". The bad guys, often portrayed by one or more of the Backyardigans, never use strong language or violence, but do try to thwart the success of the hero characters.
The Backyardigans show is for children between the ages of two and ten. The running time for each episode is from 20-23 minutes and includes two or three original songs performed by the characters.
Backyardigans Characters
Pablo is a blue penguin who wears a blue and yellow propellar hat and blue bow tie.
Tyrone is an orange moose with red hair who begins every show wearing a blue and orange striped shirt.
Uniqua is pink with purple dots and wears overalls. She is the only character who isn't modeled after a recognizable animal. Her species is unique.
Austin is a shy purple kangaroo who speaks in a soft tone of voice.
Tasha is a yellow hippopotamus often wearing a red flowered dress and matching shoes. Tasha has a fearless, take charge kind of personality.
